Youth Community Services

The focus of the Freshmen Leadership Corps (FLC) program is to provide strong summer transition experiences between grade 8 and high school for at-risk youth; then to continue to provide older high school mentors throughout the freshmen year for up to 50 students at Menlo-Atherton and Carlmont high schools.  During 3 summer sessions, teams of freshmen and their high school peer-mentors engage in active learning experiences with East Palo Alto and Mid-Peninsula community organizations and leaders. Their experiences include three trips to the American River for whitewater rafting/camping.
