Founded in 2005, Urban Tilth cultivates a foodshed in West Contra Costa County to help build a more sustainable, healthy, and just local food system.
Staffed by community youth and drawing on principles of youth development and leadership, we teach, farm, forage, train, and employ residents to increase our food self-sufficiency.
Working with schools, community organizations, government agencies, businesses, and individuals, Urban Tilth has emerged as a local leader, a catalyst drawing together a variety of discrete initiatives into a web of integrated, food- and community-focused efforts.
