Urban Sprouts began with the goal of using school gardens to improve youth academic performance, physical fitness and nutrition, outdoor opportunities and ecoliteracy, and youth development opportunities, at urban schools serving disadvantaged youth. We are in the process of expanding our goals to address youth and their families’ lack of access to fresh and healthy food at school and at home, an important factor in improving their health and nutrition.
