Sunrise Special Services Foundation

Sunrise Special Services Foundation (Sunrise) was founded to be the link for non-profit service agencies, counties, and health clinics to outreach and provide quality care for minority populations and those with special needs including the elderly. Sunrise became a 501c3 in 2000; initial board members representing tribal management expertise, marketing, non-profit grant writing/ strategic planning, federal law, and accounting. This original board members were also executive directors of other organizations througout the State of California. The Sunrise Board began supporting, training, and providing technical assistance for Tribes to increase their capacity to serve their tribal members. By 2003 Sunrise services assisted over 4 Tribes and $3.5 million in tribal grant funding. A Tribal Health Clinic became a national model utilizing grassroots outreach and county wide partnerships for a diabetes prevention project specific to rural population. Sunirse intends to continue to support agencies, tribal governments, and other non-profits towards providing services and programs that address the unique needs of the minority rural populations.

  • 2007 Catalyst Fund

    $5,000 towards “Pathways”, which will introduce the beauty and traditional resources of Lake County to youths who have lived here almost all their lives. A new awareness of the everyday mountains, watersheds, plants, lake species will promote the “fun” of the outdoors.
