Native Alliance of the Sierra Nevada Foothills

The Sierra Native Alliance (SNA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2007 and incorporated in 2009. Our mission is to empower Native youth and families through education, cultural resources and environmental activities. The SNA Cultural Education Center in Auburn provides family support and education for Native families from diverse tribal and economic backgrounds who live in Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties. These services include Positive Indian Parenting, White Bison Recovery groups, Families of Tradition activity nights, Youth Leadership/Mentoring, Title XII Indian Education afterschool programs, and Advocacy for Native youth and families who are involved with child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

SNA also helps to sponsor cultural and community events with partners in the region, with the annual Auburn Big Time-Pow Wow attracting 3-4,000 people each year. SNA sponsors youth engagement in restoration activities through the Native Youth Conservation Corps project.
