Homeless Garden Project (Santa Cruz)

The Homeless Garden Project is an organization located in Santa Cruz that provides enrichment to the community by bringing together people of all ages, abilities, and walks of life. The nearly 3- acre certified organic farm is a place of beauty and security where people can practice, learn and teach principles of economic and ecological sustainability through classes and hands-on experiences. HGP provides people who are homeless or formerly homeless, who have experienced barriers to employment, and who wish to maintain a stable productive place in society with job training and transitional employment. In this program, participants learn everything there is to know about organic urban farming including all the aspects of running a CSA program. HGP is also a place where volunteers, college students, school groups, and other organizations come to participate in service learning.
