Gateway delivers rich and relevant place-based curriculum to 6th—12th grade students who come to Donner Summit to study and explore forest, meadow, wetland and river ecosystems, as well as the human history of the Native Americans, early emigrants, and the Chinese workers who built the Transcontinental Railroad.  Students also enjoy rock-climbing, challenge hiking, swimming in mountain lakes, snow shoeing and skiing or snowboarding at the nearby resorts and in the Sierra backcountry.
