Stewardship Council,

First and foremost I would like to give my heartfelt thank you for the generous grant.  Since we acquired the vans through the grant, Wilderness School students have been able to travel far and wide throughout our great state.  In celebration of the acquisition of the vans we took 11 students for a winter trip to Death Valley National Park.  On the way there they were able to study and experience the transition from the bay area into the central valley to the high Sierras and down to Death Valley.

Since that inaugural expedition the Wilderness School has been able to take our students on several trips to the High Sierras, the Los Padres National Forest and back to Death Valley. Additionally, through the leadership of the program, the Wilderness School has been able to expose other students to environmentally educational programs.  For the most part this has taken place in San Bruno Mountain State/County Park.

Without this grant, this would not have been possible.  We continue to use the vans on a daily basis to plan and implement programs in order to expose our students to the all the outside adventures that the great State of California has to offer.  As I conclude, we have two of the vans and the trailer loaded and ready to depart for a ten-day expedition to the Ventana Wilderness.

On behalf of the all the past, present and future generations of students of the Community Environmental Education Program, The Wilderness School, THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

Edward Lopez
